We both have started using Clubhouse, a new social media platform. It’s an audio-only social media app that’s sort of like a free-flowing podcast. It allows you to join different “rooms” based on your interest, jump in, and interact with people. Right now, you have to get an invite to the app before you can use it, although this may change soon. But once you’re in the app, it’s a pretty equal playing field. You can connect with all kinds of people who have a variety of interests and areas of expertise. And you can use the app to discuss what’s important to you. If you say something of value, people will want to connect with you!
We’re telling you about this app because it’s so important to be able to adapt and adopt. Our world is constantly changing. The future is never certain. But you can focus on what YOU can be certain in– your business and your products. Combine the level of certainty you have with new opportunities, and you will excel.
Social media is a tool for both learning new information and making authentic connections. It’s a platform where you can discuss the things you’re really passionate about and connect to others who feel the same way. Since joining Clubhouse, Jen has already made five solid connections that will be an asset to her business this year. If you have an area of expertise, TALK ABOUT IT. People will want to connect with you when you share valuable information.
Remember that you do have to measure these platforms against what you have the time commitment for. You don’t want to sacrifice something important for the sake of an app. You don’t have to be on everything– you need to figure out what’s best for you. But when you find the place that is truly the sweet spot for you to make authentic connections, your success will take off.
2020 has taught us all about the importance of being flexible and adaptable. The people who struggled the most in 2020 are the ones who relied on the hope that things would be “back to normal” as soon as possible. The people who achieved the most are the ones who created new digital opportunities. Some people will try to sit back and wait. Die hard, you are not a person who sits back and waits! Take advantage of changes and go forward.
To hear more about making connections through social media, don’t forget to tune in to episode 533 of the Sell or Die Podcast.
