If you want to make more sales, you have to dedicate consistent time to selling. It’s simple, but it’s amazing how many people don’t actually do it. You have to remember that the time you spend dedicated to activities that generate revenue is proportional to the amount of money you’ll make.
Jen used to work as an executive assistant, and she begged her company to let her make some sales. They only allowed her to use 20% of her time on sales. But in that 20% of her time, she was able to make more sales than a whole team of salespeople. Why? Because that time was intentional and dedicated. She didn’t waste a second. And the other people were slacking off and distracted. So if you want to make more sales, you have to set aside intentional, uninterrupted time for activities that generate revenue.
Our modern world is used to distractions. We live with multiple screens open, alerts going off all the time, and a whole lot of drama. NONE of this is helping you be more productive and make more sales. To be successful, you have to cut out distractions. Like a horse at a racetrack, you need to put blinders on. Otherwise, you’ll get distracted and won’t make it to the end of the track.
Instead of focusing on the entire world, focus on your world. Worrying about the things you can’t control is just wasted energy. What you have control over is your world– your business, your family, your community. Resign your position as general manager of the universe. Spend your energy on what you can control.
Concentration is deeper than focus. It’s a narrowing, tight vision. When you are really concentrating, nothing can stop your focus. When you have concentration, it becomes an obsession. And in sales, you have to obsess over giving your clients transformation.When you’re talking with clients, cut out distractions. Close other screens on your computer. Silence your phone. And deeply listen to what they’re saying. Sales calls go all over the place, but you can bring it back in. Concentrate on the transformation they’ll get when they buy. That’s how you make more sales.
No matter what’s going on around you, YOU can control your world. Put blinders on in your mind, and keep your eye on the sale.
