Creating Connection: We’re divided. The only thing uniting people right now is our profession, sales.

There’s a diversion and split happening in terms of everything. The only thing uniting people right now is our profession, sales. People need products and services. It doesn’t matter what race, religion, or party they are. If they need paper for their copier, they don’t care where it comes from. What’s standing out is that right now people are craving connection more than they have ever. Jen spoke with a friend driving out to the beach, and before Covid-19 took place they had never spoken on the phone longer than 5 minutes. Now, they were talking for over 45 minutes, and haven’t talked since March. They were asking each other how things are going.

Jen’s goal of the call was to catch up, but ultimately she did land a sale and that came just from a great connection. You have an opportunity right now to call every single one of your past customers and have a conversation, check-in with them. Just ask how they’re doing, how their family is doing. Ask questions and care about the answers. If you can find an old customer or old friend and COVID got in the way of your relationship, discuss what’s going on and have something mutually beneficial to talk about. You will have a chance to rebuild the relationship in a heartbeat. They will remember how they liked you and how time has passed. Essentially, you have this Covid-19 topic in common to discuss, which can build comradery.

Creating Connection

Creating Connection: You must have true confidence and know within your heart that your success is inevitable.

How many of you die hards are so confident and know within your heart that your success is inevitable? Do you take action based on that belief? If you live in that state of mind you will take actions from that state of mind. This pandemic happening has caused at least 50% of businesses in America to go into Plan B. Some businesses may not have even had a Plan B, all of a sudden everything hits the fan and they run around in circles trying to figure things out.

When COVID hit, some businesses thought they couldn’t have a Plan B. The pandemic has caused changes and shifts in our business as well but we choose to look at it as a blessing. You do what you have to do to survive AND thrive, not simply survive and get by. You can’t cut your expenses to success, at some point you have to sell.

Creating Connection: Now it’s time to go out and start winning.

COVID didn’t just put us out of our norm, it took us out of our world and routine. This literally knocked people to the ground. We’ve never run out of toilet paper before in our lifetime, that’s an indicator the world is upside down. We’ve never had these restrictions before, and the mask mandate. Everything we knew as normal was knocked sideways, so let’s look at the resilience of people in their normal lives not just in their business. We have two camps, we have people who are survivors heading toward thriving. Then, we have people suffering, trying to figure things out. I don’t believe we have too many of those people in our listenership, however, if you are in that boat, stop thinking about what you can’t do and think about what you can do.

If you don’t love what you are doing, go find something you love to do. Now you can make that switch. The world is backward, if you plan to start over you may as well start with something you love to do. Die hards, you have your instruction now, you have proven you can be resilient, you somehow found enough toilet paper to get through Covid-19. You put yourself in a position to recognize what you have to do, and you made it through this part of the process. Now it’s time to go out, whether it’s virtual or in person, and start winning.

Creating Connection In a Time of Division and Building Relationships: The Bottomline

The economy is coming back and it’s going to go far with or without you. You have to decide how you’re going to appear post-COVID. It’s coming very quickly, and when it shows up, the competitors of yours are preparing right now. Now is the time to dig deeper than you’ve ever dug before and do what you need to get ahead.
